Do we only value what we create?

An apparent answer to the question would be “A big no”. But you might consider giving it a second thought. Let me help you break down this for you.

From our possessions to the relationships, the most valued ones are those which we create for ourselves. People are too keen to keep their belongings safer than anything else because they value them more than others. People take rest of the things for granted because they do not the struggle behind them. Becuase the struggle is the factor making things or relationships seem valuable for us.

So, let me give you an example. I have seen people having a buffet dinner at a party or a wedding ceremony and wasting as much as they eat. Would they do the same at their homes? No, because at their homes they have a sense of belongingness and they realize the struggle behind the value of that food. Similar is the scenario with a lot of things in our life.

We do only value the things which we create with struggle and hard work. Struggle gives us a feeling of accomplishment and it makes us feel better about ourselves as we see us in possession of those things. The more hard work it takes, the more it is valued. No one cares for simple things, everyone just wants to keep their things and relationships secure and valuable.

This is something that just came to my mind and I just wanted to share this with you guys. I don’t even know if I made much sense at all as I was just writing what came to the mind. Have you ever had such a realization too?
