Week 8 Waivy Pickups

Ted Ginn Jr. (New Orleans Saints) Wide Receiver

Ted Ginn has been trending with the red hot New Orleans Saints the last 2 weeks. He really broke out against the Green Bay Packers Sunday with a 7 reception 141-yard day. A stat that I thought was very interesting was he hasn’t dropped a ball since week 4 he is a perfect 13 for 13 on targets and receptions. Being a newcomer to the Saints he is quickly becoming dependable for Drew Brees because he is catching everything thrown to him. You can likely find him on your waiver wire because he wasn’t producing early in the season. He seems to be getting ahold of the offense and should be treated as a WR2 borderline WR1 now.

Deonte Thompson (Buffalo Bills) Wide Receiver

Deonte was cut by the wide receiverless Chicago Bears in early October. The Bills seen something in him and jumped on the opportunity to sign him. With Charles Clay out Thompson took advantage of a shorthanded Bills team with a 4 reception 107-yard day. He will get another opportunity this week against the soft secondary of the Oakland Raiders this week. He could push WR1 level with Charles Clay out again this week.

Jalen Richards (Oakland Raiders) Running Back

I was never high on Marshawn Lynch to the Raiders when the hype started this summer. Through week 7 of the season Marshawn only has 72 rushes for 266 yards. The backups Jalen Richards and DeAndre Washington has outplayed Marshawn in their limited snaps. Jalen Richards has more total yards (311) to Lynch’s 304 total yards in the offense. The young running backs will get their chance in against the Buffalo Bills this week with Marshawn suspended for shoving a referee. The Oakland Raiders offense came alive against the Kansas City Chiefs Once Lynch was out of the game. I would recommend Jalen Richard because of his pass catch ability. He can give you 45 yards rushing and 60 yards receiving.

Latavius Murray (Minnesota Vikings) Running Backs

I had a chance to meet Latavius Murray last year in San Jose, great guy. I wish he would’ve stayed with the Raiders verse Marshawn Lynch coming over. The business side of things gave Murray a fresh start in Minnesota. Although he has been down with an ankle injury and rookie Dalvin Cook was playing really well before his season ending injury. Murray resurfaced yesterday with 18 rushes for 113-yard day. The Vikings aren’t 100% sold on either running back Murray or McKinnon but I would say look at the matchup before you deploy Murray. The Ravens were the perfect opponent for his running style. Throwing McKinnon in there against the Ravens for 15+ carries against that physical defense may limit him being on the field because of his body type. Murray should be a good play for the next 3 opponents.
