Encourage children and teenagers to get enough sleep each night, ideally 8 to 10 hours. Discontinue the family movie night after dinner, promote a consistent bedtime, and once more restrict screen time in bed such as TV or phones.

Obesity is not a condition that develops overnight or that can be resolved in a week. It is normal for a smart diet plan to aim for a moderate weight loss of one to three pounds each week, so do not get disheartened if after a month your weight has only dropped by five pounds. That rate is acceptable. Diet and exercise are habits that must be formed; they need work and are not simple for anyone. However, if children see their parents making an effort, they will also make an effort and form healthy habits over time.
