Bring it on

Seated comfortably by the early morning fire and further warmed by a cup of tea, wind and rain battering the windows, nothing could move me from this spot, before lunch.

More than anything it is the perfect excuse to write something poetic.

Tomorrow I leave for Vienna, alone. Nothing lasts forever, and calm is always fleeting.

As the gangplank of life is walked, I remember that youth lasted an hour, maybe less. Stars and signposts led me through the loves and the lies, so many collected, others lost, broken.

Twilight carried me in toward evening like the tide, hushed and strange, resting on shores where times have changed. If I pause for a moment, feel the bruises, remember the lullabies, songs written, sung, and forgotten, I’m reminded we all head home when winter comes.

During the one long evening of life, I prefer to go where the smiles lead, lie down by the moonlight, untroubled anymore by trivial conventions, or boring others with mine.

Beyond the highest cliffs, upon the sea, the shadow of a deathly brightness can be seen.

I can take anything; I’m afraid of nothing.

Bring it on.
