The third part of the stars

April 5, 2021 (Bible Devotional)

In the book of Revelation, Jesus reveals to us the mystery which was hidden in the eternity past. We read about the dragon, also called the old serpent. This dragon is a representation of Satan, it was the medium that was used to deceive Eve. The dragon has started a war in heaven. It is not a war fought with swords, but a war of ideology, a polemic. He stood against the government of God and presented many charges against God. The biblical records tell us that the arguments of the dragons were mingled with lies. Nevertheless, his arguments were so strong that the dragon managed to displace a third part of the stars.

The book of revelation is written with many symbols. Yet, those symbols are revealed through the Bible. We read that the book is an open book. It is not some secret that is available to a selected few. By laying precept upon precept and line upon line, we can fully understand the book of Revelation. It is a hub for all the books of the Bible. And this book is a testimony of Christ, to reveal to us what will happen on the last day. As we compare the book of Revelation to the rest of the Bible, we can draw great insight into what Christ is revealing to us.

The main theme of the book is to reveal to us the mystery of the ages. And at last, He shows us that Christ will be victorious. Michael shall stand up and all his enemies will be dispersed. Evil shall not prevail. And Christ is the one worthy to receive glory and honor throughout all the eternal ages. Yet, this book does not hide from us the attempts of Satan to overcome God’s government. This attempt started way before God created the human race. We read that there was war in heaven. And this war caused a third part of the stars to be displaced from heaven to the earth.

The stars are symbolic just like the dragons. We find another reference in the Bible about stars when Jesus was born. We learn that the morning stars sing together. And other references lead us to believe that the stars are angelic beings that Satan convinced. And now that he has such vast armies, Satan believes that he can conquer the throne of God. He is working day and night to draw many to sympathize with his view. The Bible presents to us both good and evil, life and death. And he counsels us to choose Christ over Satan. By the grace of God, we do not have to sympathize with the dragon at all. Calvary shows us that Christ is the way, the truth, and the life.

Do you believe that the dragon is friendly?

The Prayer — Heavenly Father, help us to know your ways better. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
